    Points

I know this is a silly question, but how do I know how many points something is worth...Is there an example page that I could look at?  Please let me know.  Thanks

    Re: Points

I taylored my chore points to each child...each point representing $.01.  I have heard that a good starting point for children's allowance is $1.00 for every year of age.  So I want my 5 year old to earn $5 (500 points)/week.  That would come out to be about 70 points per day.  Then I make the harder weekly jobs around 5 points, everyday toy pick up 1 point, and behavior items 3 points.  Of course I expect a better job from my 12 year old and will give $12 (1200 points)/week and more points per chore.  I also have more of a dicipline problem with the 12 year old, so I definitely give more points for behavior.  This is the way I chose to do it, it took a little time to set everything up for my 3 children, but I just finished, and I hope it works and is worth the effort.  Hope this helps a little.  I am looking for some prize ideas though for my 12 year old.  He doesn't like toys and is pretty spoiled as far as material things.  I don't just want to offer money.  If anyone has some good ideas that would help motivate him...let me know.

I have found with my son that one on one time is what is most important. We have done movie nights, lunch, etc. and it is only he and I. Might work especially if he gets to pick the activity.
